Maha Navmi marks the ninth day of Navratri. India is celebrating Navmi on October 14 across the country with much fervour. It is also the third day of Durga Puja. People celebrate it as a victory of good over evil.
Further, People worship Maa Durga as Mahishasuramardini. The ninth day of Navratri also dedicates to Devi Sdiharatu a manifestation of Shakati. People worship Goddess among Nav Durga. The nine-day festival of Navratri dedicates to nine forms of the goddess Durga.
History of Maha Navmi
Maha Navmi marks the final day of the log-down battle between Goddess Durga and Mahishasura. Further, Goddess defeated the asura on the tenth day of Vijayadashmi. Peopler offers prayers to the Goddess and worships her as Mahishasuramardini-the slayer of the buffalo demon.
In many parts of the country, Kanya Puja is celebrated on Ashtami and Navmi. Further, in the Puja nine small girls, considered the nine forms of Goddess Durga worshipped and offered prasad. Moreover, their feet wash and new clothes are gifts to them.
Further, in eastern India, on the festival devotees do 16-step Shofashopachra puja early in the morning after taking a bath. The Puja begins with dhyan and avahana for invoking Maa Durga. After that, people offer five flowers to a goddess called Asana. Moreover, devotees offer water to maa to wash her feet with Padya Prakshalana, Arghya Samarpan, Achamana Samarpan, Dhop Samarpan, etc.
The puja Muhurat for Navmi begins at 8:07 pm on October 13 and will go on till 6: 52 on October 14.
Significance of Goddess Siddhidatri
Navratri puja concludes on ninth day with the puja of goddess Siddhidatri. The goddess is known to bless her devotees with many siddhis(fulfillment or perfection). Further, The idol of the goddess depicts four arms, holding Gada, Chakra, Shankh, and lotus flower. It is saying that Lord Shiva obtained all his siddhis with the blessings of Siddhidatri.
So, Today people from different parts of the country offering prayers to Goddess Siddhidatri. Moreover, devotees arrive in Katra to offer prayers at Maha Vaishno Devi in view of Navmi. Many devotees offer prayers in Delhi.
