Earlier Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar’s name surfaced on the internet. It was evident that he will be leading the newly formed Afghan government. Alongside him would be other prominent and senior officials of the Taliban.
Mullah Mohammad Omar was the reclusive leader originally, of the then Taliban. It’s said that Mullah Omar and Mullah Baradar were close friends. During the Taliban’s last rule in Afghanistan, he served as the deputy defence minister.

Baradar was arrested and imprisoned then. He served his imprisonment tenure in Pakistan. He was arrested by the ISI in 2010, the spy agency of Pakistan.
The leader was released from his imprisonment in 2018. Soon after he became the head of the political office of the Taliban in Doha.
Baradar was said to be one of the most prominent leaders then. As a result, he actively participated in politics then and played a major role in US peace talks.
The government formation has been deferred by the Taliban at least twice. All this took place amidst the power struggle between Mullah Baradar and Anas Haqqani.
DIFFERENCE BETWEEN TWO MAIN TALIBAN LEADERS
Differences between the leaders are mainly regarding the handling of Panjshir valley. As a result, this has turned out to be problematic for the group.
It is also reported that last Friday there was a gunfight in Kabul. It’s suspected that the fight was mainly a power struggle between the two Taliban leaders. Mullah Baradar was reportedly injured as well due to the fight.
As a result of the fights and power struggles, there have been changes made in the government. However, it is believed that the differences are resolved to some extent now. Peace restorations will be done.
