Even after Brisbane, IOC chose Australia to host the 2032 Summer Olympics last month. Bach claimed that the IOC has a waiting list of bidders for the Olympics in 2036, 2040, and beyond.
According to International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Thomas Bach, India is one of several countries interested in hosting the Olympic Games in 2036, 2040, and beyond.
Brisbane will host the 2032 Summer Olympics, according to the International Olympic Committee.
Indonesia, India, Germany, and Qatar are among the hopeful hosts, according to the article.
“And this is just the ones which come to my mind. So we are really in a perfect long-term position,” Bach quoted.
Bach’s remarks come when the Games’ growing expenditures, which are now in the millions of dollars, have generated discussion. They also met the recent Tokyo Olympics with criticism over the money spent on hosting the games.
Rajeev Mehta, Secretary-General of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA), acknowledged to PTI that they had expressed interest in hosting the showpiece event.
“In a meeting of an IOC Commission via video conference before Tokyo Olympics, IOA had expressed interest in hosting Olympics in 2036 and beyond,” Mehta said.
Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia stated that the city would make every effort to update infrastructure to bid for the 2048 Games successfully. It will be commemorating the country’s 100th anniversary of independence.
India expressed interest in hosting the 2032 Olympics as part of a long-term strategy that included the 2030 Asian Games and the 2026 Youth Olympic Games.
The 2030 and 2034 Asian Games are granted to Qatar and Riyadh, respectively.
