On Monday the Spanish football club, Barcelona ended their lawsuits with former LWF Neymar. The club mentions the process “ended out of court in an amicable fashion”. The Brazilian football Icon Neymar had a impeccable spell in Barcelona from 2013-2017. He later joined Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in 2018 after a record breaking deal of 222 million Euros (261 million dollars).
“As such, a transactional agreement between the club and the player has been signed to end the legal cases that were pending between the two parties: three claims related to labour and a civil case.” The club released an official statement regarding this.
Neymar joined Barcelona in 2013 and extended a five year contract with the club in 2016. The contract extension included a renewal bonus worth 64.4 million Euros. The lawsuit is mostly connected to this bonus. After Neymar’s departure Barca only payed him an amount of 20.75 million Euros of the bonus. The club justified its actions by saying that the 29 year-old has broken his contract terms and thus the full amount will not be paid.

As of June 2021 Neymar has to pay 6,8 million Euros as the court states that he has not abided by the contract terms. Neymar also took Barcelona to the court for a cases stating the club had not paid his 3 million Euros for his last month at the club.
Despite these lawsuits Barca have constantly tried to retain Neymar. Now the club’s attempt will be futile due to its financial crisis. A return to the club will no longer be possible.
The era of Barcelona’s trio of Messi, Suarez and Neymar will never be forgotten by the football fans. His time at Camp Nou was one of his excellent playing streak.
