Another semi-final classic awaits as Belgium takes on world champions France in the semi-finals of the UEFA Nations League. Belgium faces France at the Juventus Stadium in Turin. The likes of Clement Lenglet, Kingsley Coman, Thomas Lemar, and Olivier Giroud did not make the cut. Moreover, France star midfielder N’Golo Kante misses out.
Both teams suffered a disappointing exit in the Euro 2020 Cup. Belgium lost 2-1 to Euro 2020 champions Italy in the quarter-finals of the European tournament. Whereas, France suffered a shock defeat to Switzerland in the round of 16. Due to this, managers of both sides faced criticism about their job on the national side. However, a win could subdue the pressure.
Belgium has lost just one of their last 17 fixtures across all competitions (W14 D2), with the sole defeat coming in the UEFA Euro 2020 quarter-finals to Italy. Furthermore, France has not lost a game within 90 minutes in any of their last 14 fixtures across all competitions (W8 D6).
Winners will go on to face Spain in the Finals of the UEFA Nations League. Whereas, the losers will fight for third place against Italy. Spain beat Italy by 2-1 thanks to a brace from Ferran Torres. Lorenzo Pellegrini scored the lone goal for Italy.
Who will emerge victorious in this feisty battle? Can Belgium’s golden generation finally make it into the finals or will France repeat the 2018 World Cup semi-final?
