Still No Ashwin for India. Can’t remember the last time Ashwin sat out four back to back Test matches despite being fully fit. Well, this has happened in England as India have gone with the better batsman in Ravindra Jadeja and four-pronged seam attack.

4th Test pitch report
This surface has a thick layer of grass, which may provide a problem for the captain because it will do a lot on the first day, but it always improves at The Oval. Later on, spin could be a concern, as it normally is, and run-making becomes easier. As a captain, it’s a question of whether you’ll be able to see out the first day. Then bat well, or if you’ll be able to take advantage of the circumstances with the ball on the first day. Losing the coin toss isn’t such a horrible thing.
