In a video shared on his YouTube channel, Aakash Chopra pointed out that Indian batters were struggled by the Kiwi bowlers.
“India’s batting was like a flight that never took off. We were waiting for it to gather pace but it never happened. Whenever we were getting slightly fast, a wicket was falling. Overall we were strangled by the opposite team.”
“An important aspect is that the fast bowlers bowled bouncers at us. And it is a template of sorts, we have seen this earlier as well. England also bowled bouncers against us in the first match at Ahmedabad and here they also bowled short balls repeatedly where you couldn’t score runs.”
“When you didn’t score runs, you eventually played a bad shot and got out. When you see the highlights, you say that a bad shot was played but the dot balls in-between don’t come in the highlights. You were kept quiet by the back of long balls that came near your ears.”
T20 World Cup: “Selection was right, the execution was the main issue”- Harbhajan Singh
Speaking on his YouTube channel Harbhajan Singh said that it’s not right to criticize Shardul Thakur for his batting performance. Harbhajan felt bowling a single over while defending 111 runs is not enough to judge a player.
“The selection was right I thought that it was right. You cannot judge him with just one over and at the same time cannot expect him to pick up like 4 wickets while defending 111. He did not score many runs, but neither did the other batsmen. The execution was the main issue.”
