The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Wednesday, January 26 announced the Indian squads for the ODI and the T20I series against the
West Indies at home.
India will play 3 ODIs from February 6 in Ahmedabad and as many T20Is in Kolkata from February 16.
Rohit Sharma, who missed India’s tour of South Africa due to a hamstring injury,
returns to lead the ODI squad and the T20I squad.
Vice-captain KL Rahul will be available from only the 2nd ODI of the 3-match series, starting February 6 in Ahmedabad, the BCCI said.
Rohit Sharma cleared the mandatory fitness test at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru following which he attended the selection meeting with the senior selection committee.
Meanwhile, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami have been rested from both the series while left-arm wrist-spinner Kuldeep Yadav returns to the ODI squad.
Meanwhile, Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been dropped from the ODI squad after an underwhelming performance in the 3-match in South Africa earlier this month.
Senior spinner Ravichandran Ashwin is reportedly unavailable for the West Indies
series due to injury concerns.

Ravi Bishnoi,
who played for Punjab Kings in the Indian Premier League, gets a maiden T20I call-up.
Bishnoi was picked by Lucknow Super Giants, the new franchise owned by the RSPG Group, for IPL 2022.
Young pacers Prasidh Krishna and Avesh Khan are part of both the squads
along with Deepak Chahar, Shardul Thakur and Mohammed Siraj.
Left-arm spinner Axar Patel returns to the T20I squad after missing the South Africa tour due to an injury.
Rohit was appointed as India’s ODI captain in December last year after
Virat Kohli was sacked from the role but the skipper was not able to travel to South Africa due to the injury.
