Jayant Yadav to replace replace Washington Sundar in the Indian ODI squad
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) says spinner Jayant Yadav is to replace Washington Sundar in the Indian ODI squad for the forthcoming three-match series against South Africa after the latter tested positive for Covid-19.
Meanwhile, Mohammed Siraj has been replaced with Navdeep Saini, a quick bowler. During the second Test against South Africa in Johannesburg, Siraj suffered a hamstring injury.
Navdeep Saini as cover for Mohammed Siraj
Meanwhile, fast bowler Navdeep Saini will be a cover for Mohammed Siraj. Siraj had sustained a hamstring injury during the second Test against South Africa in Joihannesburg.
“After testing positive for COVID-19, Washington Sundar will not participate in the ODI series against South Africa. Sundar was supposed to leave to Cape Town with the rest of the ODI team on Wednesday. And will join the rest of the squad ahead of the ODI series starting January 19th,” said the BCCI.
“Jayant Yadav to replace Sundar’s in the ODI series.
“The Committee also included fast bowler Navdeep Saini to the ODI team as a back-up for Mohammed Siraj. Who is still recovering from a hamstring injury sustained in the second Test against South Africa in Johannesburg,” the statement continued.
The three-match ODI series begins on January 19 at Paarl, with the first match and the second match taking place on January 21. On January 23, the third One-Day International will happen at Cape Town, which is also hosting the third Test match.
