The Delhi Capitals registered a hard-fought 4-wicket win over Mumbai Indians in Sharjah on Saturday.
Chasing 130, Delhi lost both the openers inside three overs. Shikhar Dhawan was run out by a brilliant throw from Kieron Pollard, while Shaw(lbw) was trapped by Krunal Pandya. Rishabh Pant, though, didn’t stifle his attacking instincts as he smoked Krunal for a maximum on his second ball.
He whacked a couple of fours off Jasprit Bumrah to cap off the powerplay for DC at 46/3. Jayant Yadav sent the DC captain back to the pavilion when Pant holed one down too long-on.
Shreyas Iyer and Axar Patel steadied the ship with a 20-run stand before the left-hander was dismissed by Trent Boult. Shimron Hetmyer started off in a brisk fashion with a couple of fours off Jayant before being accounted for by Bumrah.
Iyer and R Ashwin rotated the strike well and hit an occasional boundary to keep the required run rate near to 6 runs per over. With 4 needed off 6 balls, Ashwin finished it with a maximum. Iyer remained unbeaten on 33 off 33 and Ashwin 20 off 21.
While the Netizens were buzzing on Twitter with this win of the Capitals as MI’s hopes of qualifying in the playoffs diminished.

Sensible, clever, excellent partnership between Iyer and Ashwin takes #DC home in a tense match. Rohit tried every gambit to defend modest score and almost succeeded till these two played with control and cunning to take DC home. Big setback for #MI in quest for place in play off

MI being let down by the Indian contingent — Rohit, Hardik, Surya, Ishan, Krunal… all struggling and they all played key roles in their title run.
