Kolkata Knight Riders(KKR) faced off against top of the table side Delhi Capitals(DC) at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium, on the 28th of September, Tuesday. It was a very important match for KKR considering the mid-table congestion in the IPL 2021.
KKR delivered on this occasion chasing down a 127 run target set by the Delhi Capitals. It seems as though KKR’s plan to bowl first yielded a good result. As KKR bowlers were able to restrict an explosive DC side to a low total of 127 runs.

In the first innings Sunil Narine, Lockie Ferguson, and Venkatesh Iyer all picked up a couple of wickets while collectively giving away only 57 runs. Impressive bowling by KKR induced pressure on the Rishabh pant lead DC side.
DC lost 9 wickets in their innings making 127 runs. In the second innings, however, KKR started strong with Shubman Gill and Venkatesh Iyer. However, Iyer lost his wicket early to Lalit Yadav making only 14 runs. then, newcomer Rahul Tripathi(9) unable to make any big Impact was followed by Nitish Rana.
Shubman Gill(30) lost his wicket to Kagiso Rabada as he played on straight down Shreyas Iyer’s throat. Ravi Ashwin won a personal battle against Eoin Morgan as he sent the KKR captain back to the pavilion on a golden duck. It looked as if DC were slowly carving their way back into the match before Nitish Rana took matters into his own hands.
Rana scored an amazing 36 runs off 27 balls with a strike rate of 133.33. Rana remained not out while others fell on the other end. KKR secured the 2 points in the penultimate over of the match.
This win means KKR is now 4th with 10 points from their 11 games in the points table.
