Kevin Pietersen believes that AB De Villiers must be hating “That He Hasn’t Been Able To Contribute” in the UAE. AB De Villiers’ performance has been under the radar throughout the second phase of the 2021 IPL. So far, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) have played four matches in the UAE. RCB sits comfortably at the third spot with 14 points. Their recent victory against the Rajasthan Royals gives them a 4-point lead against the fourth-place team.
In the four matches played, the Royal Challengers Bangalore have won 2 and lost 2. However, AB De Villiers has only managed scores of 0, 11, 14, and 4 in his four outings for Royal Challengers Bangalore. His form has raised concerns. Despite his performance, the Royal Challengers Bangalore found runs through Virat Kohli, Devdutt Paddikal, and Glenn Maxwell.
Former England captain, Kevin Pietersen pointed it out saying that, “He is an established player, he is a senior player. He would not want to see Kohli or Maxwell score the runs he is scoring. He must be thinking ‘I’m not holding my side of the bargain’. This is just not the AB de Villiers that he is used to seeing”.
Furthermore, seeing his compatriots score the big runs Pietersen says that, ” He would be hating the fact that he hasn’t been able to contribute.” However, Kevin Pietersen doesn’t fear for AB De Villiers and his participation in the starting XI. He says, “He has contributed so much to the world of cricket and in the IPL. If he gets three ducks in a row, it doesn’t matter. What he has done for the IPL and RCB is incredible. However, he would want to score”, he added.
