The Indian Premier League (IPL) is having two new members. As Lucknow and Ahmedabad will be new franchises for the IPL 2022.
Sanjiv Goenka owner of RPSG Group bought Lucknow to put the highest bid of INR 7000 crores, on Monday 25 October in Taj Dubai. He said his new team will be willing to make the most of the resources available. When it comes to player availability for the next season.
Speaking to India Today Sanjeev Goenka said:
“As far as wanting players, everyone wants the best of the best, that’s not going to be possible. Because the existing franchises will have the right to retain some of the players. We have to make do with what we have.
“Uttar Pradesh is waiting to have an IPL team”- Goenka
“I am quite excited about this. Uttar Pradesh is the biggest state in the country. The most populous state. we do believe there is a huge population in the state who is waiting to have a team. We do have operations there, we are fairly excited about it and it will be a furtherance of a business in UP which we are very keen on.”

Speaking after the two new teams were announced, BCCI President Sourav Ganguly said that the two new teams will bring more domestic cricketers from our country to the global stage.
“The BCCI is happy to welcome two new team’s from the next season of the Indian Premier League. I would like to congratulate RPSG Ventures Ltd. And Irelia Company Pvt. Ltd. For being successful bidders. The IPL will now go to two new cities in India viz in Lucknow and Ahmedabad.”

However, the IPL 2022 season will be 10 team affairs with 74 matches.
