Last month, the selection panel selected a 15-man squad with three traveling reserves. They are Shreyas Iyer, Shardul Thakur, and Deepak Chahar.
Teams have until October 10 to make changes to their squads, according to ICC rules. Team India fans are keeping a careful eye on the performances of World Cup-bound players. Notable cricketers like Yuzvendra Chahal, who were overlooked for the tournament.
With some of the picked players struggling, supporters have been pleading with the selectors to make changes to the squad. However players like Chahal, Shreyas Iyer, Shardul Thakur, and a few others making waves in the IPL,
“In my opinion, once you have picked the squad for the World Cup, barring injury, I don’t think you should make any changes.” said Agarkar.
However, Ajit Agarkar believes that Team India’s selectors and management should stick to their original lineups. All it takes is one good knock or a spell to turn things around.
He is optimistic that players like Suryakumar Yadav, Rahul Chahar, and Ishan Kishan, can restore their form before the 14th season ends.
“Yes, there are guys at the moment who are not in their great form, but it only takes one innings whether it’s bowling or batting – to change that form around, and that could still happen before the end of the IPL.”
“So, if you think that’s the best 15 you’ve picked going to the World Cup, my personal opinion, I would stick with it, because you gotta show faith in people even when things are not looking so good, because things can turn around very quickly,” he added.
India will be facing arch-rivals Pakistan on October 24. India will play two warm-up games against England and Australia on October 18 and 20, respectively.
