As per a PTI report, a senior cricketer voiced his concerns about the situation turning worse if a playing member is tested positive on one of the match days. It is learnt that ECB chairman Tom Harrison is trying to talk to the high-profile player and address his concerns. All the other members of the side are in favor of match going ahead.
Indian players have now asked for another round of PCR tests before they will consider playing. It is understood that it was a collective decision from India not to participate in the first day’s play.
Whether the Test match will now go ahead is uncertain. As of Friday morning, before play was supposed to start, the ECB and BCCI have been locked in discussions about the future of the match.
The ECB is thought to have proposed delaying the Test by two days, while some officials within the BCCI have asserted that the Test be cancelled altogether.
