Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone of a new airport in Noida, Uttar Pradesh on November 25. This will be the Noida International Airport in Jewar, Gautam Buddha Nagar. After this airport, Uttar Pradesh will become the only state in India to have five international airports, according to Prime Minister’s Office. Also, it called this new airport a part of the Prime Minister’s “vision for a future-ready aviation sector”. Furthermore, this will be the second international airport in the Delhi NCR.
The strategic location of this airport will cater to the needs of the people of Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad, Aligarh, Agra, Faridabad and nearby areas. Moreover, it will help decrease the pressure on Indira Gandhi International Airport. The PMO believes that this airport can be a game changer for Uttar Pradesh. Further, it will unleash the potential of Uttar Pradesh to the world.

Key Features of Noida International Airport
According to the PMO the new airport will have the following features
- This airport has is conceptualized with an integrated multi modal cargo hub. It focuses on reducing the total cost and time for logistics.
- The airport will develop a Ground Transportation Centre that will feature a multimodal transit hub, housing metro and high-speed rail stations, taxi, bus services and private parking.
- The airport will also house a state-of-art MRO (Maintenance, Repair & Overhauling) Service
- It will be India’s first net zero emissions airport
Airports at present in Uttar Pradesh
At present, Uttar Pradesh has a total of 13 airports. Out of them four are international airports and the addition of Noida International airport will take the number to five. Previously, Uttar Pradesh had two international airports, Chaudhary Charan Singh in Lucknow and one in Varanasi. The third came up in Kushinagar, which was recently inaugurated by the Prime Minister. Further, the fourth is coming up in the temple town of Ayodhya which will likely become operational early next year.
