Special investigation team (STI) examining the Lakhimpur Kheri violence today took Union Minister Ajay Mishra’s son Ashish Mishra and three others arrested to recreate the events leading to the incident. The accused were taken to the site of the incident on the Tikona-Banbirpur road with tight security.

Eight people died on October 3 during the incident that happened in Uttar Pradesh’s Tikona village. Four farmers were killed as a vehicle was run over the farmers. Furthermore, farmers lynched some people in the vehicles as they got angry by the incident. The other four dead people included two BJP workers and their driver. The other one was Raman Kashyap, a journalist.
Farmers claim that Union minister Ajay Mishra’s son was also present in one of the vehicles. This allegation was denied by Ashish Mishra and his father.
After the incident, many Congress leaders and farmers accused the Uttar Pradesh government of going easy on Ashish Mishra as he is the son of Union Minister Ajay Mishra.
On 9th October, After 12 hours of questioning Ashish Mishra was arrested. Later, Ashish Mishra was sent to three-day police custody remand. On Wednesday, Mishra applied for bail but it was denied by the local court in Lakhimpur Kheri.
In Banbeerpur that is the village of Ajay Misra. Ashish Mishra is popularly known as Monu Bhayiya in Bahbeerpur. Many villagers said that Ashish Mishra is innocent and should not be arrested.
The Special investigation team(STI) has arrested a total of six people in the case so far. The names are Ashish Mishra, Pandey, Lovekush Rana, Bharti and Lateef. The nephew of former MP Akhilesh das, name Ankit Das was also arrested.
On the other hand, many Congress leaders are protesting for the removal of Ajay Mishra from the Union ministry. They say that it won’t allow the free and fair investigation in the case.
