On Thursday, the Ministry of External Affairs in a press conference condemned the attacks in Bangladesh. The reports suggest that some unidentified miscreants vandalized Hindu temples during the Durga puja celebrations.
The MEA added, that New Delhi is in constant contact with Prime Minister Shiekh Hasina’s government. The Bangladeshi government reacted promptly to the attack. The attack resulted in violence which killed 3 people and leaving many others injured.
Arindam Bagchi in a press conference said, ” We witnessed the disturbing reports and untoward incidents in Bangladesh. We are in touch with the Bangladesh government. The Bangladesh government has reacted promptly. Our embassy is in contact with local authorities.”

Bangladesh government reaction to the attacks
On Thursday, the government at once deployed the BGB (Border Guard Bangladesh) paramilitary force in 22 districts. According to Bangladeshi sources, A local temple in Cumilla reported allegations of profanity. Therefore, it became a center of a social media storm on Wednesday.
Further, when clashes broke out, the administration and the police became active immediately to bring the situation under control. The incidents of demolition started to occur in Hindu temples in Chandpur’s Hajiganj, Chottagram’s Banshkhali, and Cox’s Bazar’s Pekua.
Subsequently, the riots started to spread in many Durga Puja venues. However, as the administration tried to control the chaos, the mob tried to attack them as well. Therefore, the elite anti-crime and anti-terrorism unit of the Bangladesh Police Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and paramilitary force Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) were deployed to control the mob.
The responsible ministry issued an emergency notice. Further, it requested people not to take laws into their own hands and in addition, it urged people to maintain peace and harmony. The government deployed the BGB forces in 22 districts after various attacks on Hindu temples during the Durga Puja celebrations.
