Alec Baldwin hires L.A. attorney for Rust Civil suit
The L.A based attorney will represent Rust movie productions and also other production companies that were involved in the movie. Baldwin who was both starring and producing the film Rust grabbed headlines for an incident that took place on the sets. While rehearsing for a scene from the movie Alec fatally shot cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on October 21 near Santa Fe N.M. The shot injured director Joel Souza and killed Hutchins on spot. The actor reportedly fired the gun after being told that the prop gun was safe.
Two lawsuits regarding the incident have been filed. One by script supervisor Maime Mitchell, who claimed she suffered “physical and emotional injuries” at the time of the incident. The case file in the Los Angeles Superior Court names several crew members and film producers.
The second suit filed by Gaffer Serge Svetnoy claimed that he was very close to Alec Baldwin when he fired the gun. And has suffered from physical and emotional harm due to it.
Halyna Hutchins family has not filed a case yet. Her family attorney Brian Panish, Shea, and Boyle and Ravipudi told a news publication that the family is still mourning the loss. And the firm is conducting an “intensive investigation on facts” including interviewing the witnesses and meeting with the district attorney and law enforcement.
